Evaluating My Music Magazine - Question 6 ~ What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

Evaluating My Music Magazine - Question 5 ~ How did you attract/address your audience?

Evaluating My Music Magazine - Question 4 ~ Who would be your audience for your media product?

Evaluating My Music Magazine - Question 3 ~ What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

I think my magazine would be best suited to be published by ‘Condé Nast’ not only because it’s one of the world’s leading publishers but it would be best suited to my magazine as I aimed it to look like a Vogue magazine. ‘Condé Nast’ even has started a college purely for teenagers looking to learn techniques that help in the magazine industry. However unlike Vogue my magazine is based more on the teenage demographic from the age of 16-20 mainly. Having said that I would still choose ‘Condé Nast’ as my magazine distributor; because I believe they have the experience in this type of magazine and also because my magazine is very similar to Vogue and Elle. On the contrary ‘Condé Nast’ already has a magazine that is similar to mine; therefore I would have to make sure mine is just as good if not better than the others to make sure my magazine achieves the same publicity as the others. My magazine would attract a lot of attention from my target audience if it were published by ‘Condé Nast’ as the company attracts more than 164 million consumers across its 20 print and digital media brand allowing it to reach my desired audience. In regards to synergy, ‘Condé Nast’ would also be good for this as they have a wide range of advertisements used in there magazines that could also be used in mine to further attract my target audience and give information about certain things to my audience that they may find useful; this comes under surveillance in the Uses and Gratifications theory. Overall I believe working with ‘Condé Nast’ would be more positive than negative and also give my magazine the publicity it needs to compete with other magazines.

Evaluating My Music Magazine - Question 2 ~ How does your media product represent particular social groups?

I have made my magazine to represent the social group that is all chart-music and fashion loving girls all over the world. I have done this by making my target demographic at an age range of 16-35 this is because younger people normally are more interested in fashion and chart music. I have also connected to my target by audience my mentioning things like festival line-ups; I did this because teenager’s are more likely to want to attend festivals which means they are more likely to by my magazine if it includes things they want to read. I have also made connections to the fashion side of the magazine in the imagery. When looking at style models like Vogue and Elle; I saw that they used models wearing the latest trends so I decided to incorporate the same thing into my images; so I made my model’s code of dress reflect the latest fashion trends. The colour palette I used signifies the sort of audience I want my magazine to have as it uses bright colours including; white, black and red. These colours mainly attract a female which is what I’m looking to do; but it also gives my magazine a more professional look as it isn’t bombarded with too many colours. To make my audience interested in the article’s I decided not to use too much elevated language so they can understand what the text says, however, I didn’t use demotic language either as that wouldn’t be sticking to the style of my magazine. I have challenged stereotypes of females by using aggressive code of expressions in my photography as I didn’t want females to across as just bubbly airheads; like they look in TeenVogue for example. As my magazine is aimed at mainly teenage girls and young women I have stuck to the stereotype that they are interested in fashion/music/make-up/boys ect. Therefore I added make-up advertisements to the magazine (as shown on my mood boards) in order to draw in a bigger fanbase and reinforcing the stereotype of my magazine; this also promotes my magazine with synergy as its using two different companies. When comparing my images to Vogue images I decided my model needed to give a quite stern expression thereby increasing its professionalism look.
